When working in historic city centres, Milan-based practice Arassociati aims to respect the existing urban fabric without mimicry, while in the suburbs they devote special attention to the landscape.

At the 2022 edition of Cersaie, the world’s preeminent exhibition of ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings, naturalistic was the name of the game. Earthy hues, warm tones, and botanical patterns were evident throughout the show while new types of natural material looks presented an element of wonder and surprise.

Centro Ceramico’s newly renovated headquarters in Sassuolo will be officially opened on 3 November. The premises have been extensively refurbished with large-scale use of ceramic slabs to improve the usability and aesthetics of the laboratories and other spaces.

The 39th Cersaie, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings fully lived up to the expectations of the exhibitor companies that had decided to invest in the show as an opportunity to meet their customers in person once again and present their latest product innovations in booths with a powerful visual and emotional impact

Cersaie Digital is Cersaie’s new digital platform. With features such as an exhibitor catalogue, a business matching service, a 3D map and a congress centre, it allows professionals to meet up and do business remotely.

Building restoration will take centre stage in Cersaie’s “building, dwelling, thinking” cultural programme with a conference entitled “The sustainable beauty of restoration” to be held at 11.00 a.m. on Wednesday 28 September in the Palazzo dei Congressi in the Bologna Exhibition Centre. Michaela Wolf and Gerd Bergmeister, founders of the Brixen- and Rosenheim-based practice Bergmeisterwolf, will be the guest speakers at a conference to be held on Thursday 29 September at 11.00 a.m. in the Palazzo dei Congressi (BolognaFiere) as part of Cersaie’s “building, dwelling, thinking” cultural programme.

Approved in 2018, it is a unique, international standard for evaluating the environmental, economic and social impact of ceramic tiles.

Thanks to the Wincer project, it is now possible to produce ceramic tiles with materials originating from municipal and industrial waste.

By comparing their respective environmental impacts, the Life Cycle Assessment showed that porcelain stoneware is more sustainable than other materials.
