At Cersaie 2021, Tiling Town will focus on outdoor spaces and large slab laying | by Simone Ricci
Once again this year, Cersaie will be hosting Tiling Town, the meeting place for the world of Italian and international tile laying located in Hall 32, close to the Piazza Costituzione entrance to the Bologna Exhibition Centre. On each of the five days of Cersaie, visitors to the ninth edition of Tiling Town will have the chance to attend installation showcases given by expert tile layers focusing on outdoor spaces and the installation of large slabs.
This year the technical seminars for architects and designers will be held in a dedicated permanent space and will consist of two hours of classroom lessons followed by two hours of practical training session in the installation workshop. The lessons will be organised both in-person and as webinars and will earn professional training credits for participating architects, engineers and surveyors. Another interesting initiative is the Tiling Town Matinées, a series of tile-laying events organised by Assoposa’s technical partners (Fila, Mapei, Raimondi) and scheduled for 10:00 am daily from Monday to Friday.
A large space in Tiling Town will also be occupied by the Italian national ceramic tile layers’ association Assoposa and will serve as a meeting and information point for the world of tile installation. Tiling professionals will have a chance to find out more about the association’s activities during its eight-year history and its future objectives in terms of education and professional training, including the qualifications of tile layers, master tile layers and XXL slab layers, three-year vocational courses at building schools, and apprenticeships organised as an alternation between school education and in-company training.
Finally, Tiling Town will host tile installation showcases illustrating the courses for tile layers, retailers and architects that can be organised on the premises of Italian ceramic companies as part of a training programme launched by Confindustria Ceramica and Assoposa.
