«Your holiday in Ischia, in a dream apartment by the sea» is how Ischia Blu Resort — a modern holiday residence overlooking the sea on the island of Ischia — advertises itself. And if this statement on the hotel’s website is not a sufficient credential, all one need do is take a glance at Trip Advisor, the leading review website for hotels and restaurants, to get an idea of the location. «An oasis in Ischia», «A special holiday», «Simply extraordinary» and «A magical location in Ischia» are just a few of the comments left by satisfied guests who have stayed in the resort and have chosen to share their experiences online.
Featuring architecture that can be described as «classically modern», typical of the local patrician villas, the Ischia Blu Resort residence boasts an exceptional position for guests wishing to enjoy a enjoyable and relaxing holiday. Located in a quiet area close to the centre, it is a short walk from one of the most vibrant areas of the island but at the same time tucked away in a secluded location complete with a private bay. The port of Ischia is close at hand with its characteristic «rive droite» complete with bars, restaurants, discos and many other evening attractions, while the elegant shopping street of Ischia Porto is about a 10 minute walk away. But the position and view are the characteristics that make the resort truly unique. Nestled in a small bay with crystalline water, it is located in Ischia Porto, the island’s most central location, with a convenient beach reserved for guests. It is also easy to get to. It is located right next to the hydrofoil and ferry port and a short walk from the local bus station, from where services run to destinations all over the island. And for guests arriving in Ischia with their own cars, there is a manned car park just 300 metres away.
Following a recent renovation project, Ischia Blu Resort offers a choice of eight different sized apartments, all with unique characteristics and floor spaces. The apartments are all independent and fully furnished and feature kitchenettes, balconies and large terraces. Some also have direct access to the beach. They have floor areas of between 40 and 80/100 square metres and can accommodate from 2 to 6/7 people. «The apartments are spacious and very tastefully furnished and have outdoor areas where guests can admire the splendid sunsets. Spotless rooms with attention to every detail, breathtaking views and a professional and meticulous cleaning service,» confirms Trip Advisor. Assigned to the Ischia-based practice Civetti & Barile Architetti Associati, the project involved refurbishing three «superior» apartments and restyling some of the common areas. The remodelling project was based on «Mediterranean architectural detailing typical of the island», explained the architects when outlining the goals of the project. The renovation project involved reorganising the spaces and adding characteristic architectural elements such as Moorish arches, columns, mosaics and the use of typical local materials from the Mediterranean tradition. The project sought to recreate a coordinated image that would extend throughout the resort, especially as regards the specifically decorative aspects of the floor and wall coverings and the furnishings. The interior floors were clad with blue coloured ceramic tiles from the Perle d’Italia line from Antiche Fornaci D’Agostino, enhanced with white coloured terrazzo style detailing. Typically maritime decorative elements are recurrent features on the bathroom floors and walls and in the furnishings, which together with the blue glaze emphasise the splendid location nestled between the sea and the coast.
