The splendid mountain village of Madonna di Campiglio has a long tradition of hospitality dating back at least to the late nineteenth century when it was frequented by Princess Sissi and Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria. Located in the heart of Val Rendena, between the Brenta Dolomites and the Adamello and Presanella glaciers, the Trentino resort is a popular destination for skiers and winter sports practitioners, but is also a perfect summer retreat for hikers, cyclists and nature lovers in general. Located in the centre of Madonna di Campiglio, Hotel Rosengarten was recently renovated so as to be able to welcome guests all year round with exciting proposals tailored to different categories of clientele. As in the finest mountain hospitality tradition, the four-star hotel is family run. The owners, a mother and daughter, personally coordinated all the renovation work needed to expand the hotel and change the intended use of some of the rooms so as to offer new services. They added a spa, an oasis of relaxation after the hard work of sports activities, a champagne bar where guests can enjoy an aperitif or chill out after dinner, and a new restaurant with sophisticated design serving dishes based on locally produced ingredients. The renovation project also included the ground floor of the building, which was completely refurbished so as to house the „Sparkling lounge bar“ where guests can enjoy local prosecco and wines, the semi-basement floor housing the „Soleil noir“ restaurant, and the second semi-basement level occupied by the wellness centre complete with a 70 m2 swimming pool. The aim of the renovation project was to create a warm and friendly ambience that nonetheless retains a touch of elegance and sophistication and makes extensive use of wood in combination with contemporary design. Ceramic tiles also played an important role, chosen in a range of sizes and thicknesses from the porcelain collections by Ceramiche Coem. The Cardoso series in a dark grey colour and 60x120x1 cm size was selected for the champagne bar, where the dominant materials are glass, gold and taupe-coloured upholstery. The pale-veined stone effect fits in well with the room’s natural wood finishings. Creating a sense of continuity, the same ceramic panels are installed on the stairs leading down to the ‘Soleil noir‘ and on the entire floor of the restaurant. The Reverso2 black colour series was chosen for the bathrooms in two versions: a 60x120x1 cm size for the floors and a Wide Gres 120×120 cm version in a 6 mm thickness for the walls. The result is a seamless surface design, but in this case with an imperfect, raw look inspired by the backs of travertine slabs. Reverso2 Wide Gres in colours white and black used for the exterior walls of the swimming pool contrast with the beige colour of the I Sassi collection. Inspired by the natural streaks of river pebbles, the series is used for the floors in the entrance and the changing room bathrooms in a 60x120x1 cm size, while 60.4×90.6×2 cm slabs with a rounded bullnose effect are used for the pool’s infinity edge. The overall result stands out for its exceptional brightness and aesthetic harmony.
