The hotel Landgoed De Wilmersberg dates back to the years immediately after the First World War and was originally the estate of a family of textile entrepreneurs from Twente. Even today it is almost completely surrounded by unspoilt green spaces. To get there, you have to leave the main road and drive almost a mile and a half along a winding country lane that reveals new and astonishing landscapes around every corner.
Spending the night on this old estate is an experience in itself. All the rooms are beautifully appointed, combining the typical features of country houses of past times with modern comforts while also offering splendid views of nature.
Landgoed De Wilmersberg is the starting point for countless hiking trails and cycle paths that lead directly into the surrounding woodland. It is the perfect place to relax and it’s hardly a surprise that Tripadvisor users elected it in 2018 as one of the top 25 hotels in the Netherlands.
But along with the splendid natural setting of the Twente countryside where guests can recharge their batteries and forget the stress of their daily lives, the Landgoed De Wilmersberg hotel also features a complete wellness area including a sauna, indoor swimming pool, whirlpool and Turkish bath.
Completely renovated in 2017, the spa provides a deep sense of peace and relaxation, further accentuated by the large windows that look out onto the surrounding natural scenery. In a project like this the choice of materials was vitally important. The textures and colours of the stone- and wood-effect surface coverings create a cosy, cocoon-like atmosphere. In particular, the warm honey tones of oak are combined with the cooler shades of a dark stone, Blue Origin, which is the perfect choice for the pool surround as it complements the blue of the water while contrasting pleasantly with the warm tones of wood. Blue Origin, extensively used in a 60x60cm size in the wellness area, is part of the Living Stones collection from Blustyle by Cotto d’Este, a selection of porcelain tiles inspired by Europe’s most prestigious natural stones.
Blue Origin recreates the Nordic elegance of pierre bleue stone originating from the dense forests rich in carboniferous sediments and shells of Wallonia. Its colour recalls the natural shades of coal and anthracite and coordinates with the other surface coverings to create a sophisticated balance of textures and colours.
Along with their outstanding aesthetic qualities, tiles from the Living Stones collection also offer exceptional technical characteristics. Particularly in the chosen Grip finish, they guarantee excellent slip resistance and maximum usability when the floor is damp or wet. Strength and durability are equally important characteristics in the choice of floor covering for a wellness space and in the case of Blustyle by Cotto d’Este are certified by the product’s 20-year warranty.
