A Restaurant With A Canadian Flavour On The Shores Of The Hudson River

The intimate ambience of an informal and refined restaurant on the Hudson River is the ideal place to enjoy a seafood meal. The Halifax restaurant in Hoboken, a city on the west bank of the river that subsequently flows through the state of New York, past Manhattan and through the neighbourhoods of West Village and Chelsea, has a sophisticated atmosphere that complements perfectly the exclusive menus of its executive chef Seadon Shouse.
A Canadian from Nova Scotia, whose capital city is Halifax (hence the name of the restaurant), the chef specializes in the typical seafood cuisine of the northeast coast and uses fish products from Maine certified by the Marine Stewardship Council, a non profit association promoting environmental sustainability and the use of local products.
The restaurant is located inside the W hotel and reflects the sober taste typical of the hotel chain. The spaces are warm and welcoming, characterized by an original and essential design whose leitmotif is its exclusive interpretation of wood and light-filled interiors. The porcelain stoneware flooring, in a shade of pale, almost milky, oak, with an elegant satin finish, gives the restaurant its distinctive identity. The large glass windows let the light stream in and provide a perfect view over the waterfront; the walls are covered with glazed tiles in shades reminiscent of the light reflecting on the sea and fluctuating waves.
The Halifax restaurant’s furnishings are sober, with wooden tables and chairs. The only colour variation comes from the upholstery of the chairs, which is blue like the sky and the ocean, and from a huge and creative bright green „living“ painting. The balance and transparency that the chef seeks to convey through his cuisine, highlighting the connection with the local area and its traditions, is also reflected in the restaurant’s floor and wall coverings.
The plank format ceramic floor tiles are all different, each with its own unique colour mix and vein pattern, and a variety of sizes have been used to give the floor an even more natural look. The richness of the surface emerges discreetly from its elegant way of reflecting the light. Thanks to their strong technical performance characteristics, the large format tiles from the Maxiwood collection, manufactured by Italgraniti, are the ideal choice for the floor and wall coverings of contemporary spaces, particularly for large venues and public establishments.
