Princely, enchanted…. in short, a place for multisensorial relaxation

The set is worthy of an Oscar: Cortina, in the heart of the Dolomites, one of the 189 most beautiful places in the world and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in June 2009. The cast is equally prestigious, the key player being the Grand Hotel Savoia, an historic meeting place for distinguished tourists in this valley of pink mountains. Established in the early twentieth century, this pearl of the international hotel industry has always been a popular destination for the rich and famous. Its archives are a veritable treasure trove of history, with signatures including those of Winston Churchill, Umberto of Savoy, Sofia Loren, Charlton Heston, Princess Mafalda of Savoy, Italo Balbo and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
This prestigious facility recently underwent a major remodelling project to enable it to offer its customers an even more exclusive service. The centrepiece of the super-luxury renovation package is the Mességué wellness centre, which extends over a surface area of more than 750 square metres. Designed to guarantee the maximum comfort, the space is equipped with the most modern multisensorial wellness technologies, naturally enhanced by an elegant and relaxing ambience in perfect harmony with the nature of the external environment.
It was no coincidence that the technical partner was chosen on the strength of a clear wellness philosophy. The fundamental principle behind the Mességué method is that the quality of living is closely related to respect for nature and the ecosystem. The authenticity of natural products is therefore the key characteristic of the entire range of offerings. This element was carefully taken into consideration by the designers of the renovation project, who observed the centre’s manifesto in all their choices, particularly that of the materials.
As a result, ceramic porcelain tile has been chosen to play a key role throughout the facility, from the reception through to the spectacular swimming pools. Floor Gres supplied various sizes of Globe collection porcelain tiles as well as mosaics to clad the interior and exterior of the swimming pool, the treatment booths, the bathrooms, the stairs and the showers. The chosen colours combine harmoniously with the materials of the accessories, creating sophisticated ton-sur-ton effects that fit in perfectly with the sense of peace and suffused relaxation that permeates the ambience. The pale coloured wood, the natural fabric loungers facing onto the pool, the gentle alternation of spaces, from the common areas to the treatment booths… everything reflects the theme of eco-sustainability and the combination of research, innovation and design: just like the Floor Gres ceramic tiles that have been used.
