The isle of Krk, situated in the Kvarner Bay and connected by a bridge to the mainland, is the largest island in the Adriatic. While the northeast coasts are steep and barren, those on the west and southwest of the island boast splendid bays with mixed pebble and sand beaches and crystal clear water. The town of Krk, the largest on the island with 3,000 inhabitants located in the bay of the same name in the southwest, is home to a hotel complex run by Hoteli Krk with a capacity of six hundred beds in four separate structures. Three of these, hotel Dražica and the annexes Lovorka and Villa Tamaris, make up the Dražica complex situated in the countryside to the southeast of Krk, while the fourth structure operates autonomously under the name of Hotel Marina. Located in a privileged position along the seafront in the town’s historic centre, this hotel built in 1925 (then an anonymous two-star port hotel called Hotel Jugoslavia) underwent major renovation work between 2007 and 2008 that transformed it into a modern 4-star hotel. In accordance with landscape constraints, the exterior of the building remained virtually unchanged apart from minor maintenance work. The interiors on the other hand were radically remodelled to create a smaller number of much larger rooms, ten instead of the previous eighteen. The aim was to create a suitable ambiance and to provide excellent professional services in order to appeal to high-level tourist and business customers who appreciate outstanding comfort and tend to travel in all seasons. This would enable the hotel to be kept open all year round and not just during the summer. Completed in just five months, the renovation project used materials, furnishings, curtains and finishings from most prestigious international brands in order to create an atmosphere of hospitality, warmth and sober luxury throughout the hotel. A major contribution was made by porcelain tile from the Ceramica Sant’Agostino’s Laser collection which was installed on floors and walls in the bathrooms and common spaces, where it also serves as a wall panel integrated into visually striking compositions. Hotel Marina offers four Premium double rooms, a Premium Suite with double rooms, two Deluxe double rooms with terrace and two Deluxe Suites with double room and terrace, all located on the first and second floors. The third floor President Suite offers some 120 square metres of pure, unostentatious luxury. The elegant Marina restaurant is located on the ground floor, although guests can also dine on the magnificent terrace (which is completely under cover outside the summer months) where they can enjoy music and a view of the boats, lighthouse and seagulls.
