Domination Homes designs and builds luxury custom homes in the Perth area of Western Australia under the motto “Designed on innovation, built on tradition”. The company’s display home in Applecross, a luxury suburb just outside Perth, is the centrepiece of a portfolio of properties ranging from two-storey boutique homes to smaller houses built on narrow lots. Called simply “The Residence”, the display home showcases the widest range of high-end architectural and interior design solutions with the aim of giving customers ideas and inspiration for designing their own custom dream homes. This elegant two-storey display home stands out for its linear, understated architecture and a floor space of 480 square metres. The layout is based on an elongated rectangular floor plan in which the rooms are set out in an orderly sequence. The ground floor living area communicates with the outdoor patio and swimming pool to create a continuous space separated only by large sliding glass doors. Along with the large square-shaped living room, it features an amply sized kitchen (complete with cellar, pantry and laundry room) connected directly to the dining room, as well as a home theatre, master suite with bathroom and a double garage. The more intimate and secluded upper floor consists of three bedrooms, a bathroom, a study and two balconies.
The Residence embraces a contemporary vision of luxury characterised by large spaces, purity of form, neutral colour palettes, materials of high aesthetic and technical quality, as well as a strong focus on finishes and technology. The predominantly white furnishings are broken up by a few warm wood accents here and there. There are also plenty of visually-striking details such as the integrated staircase lighting, which perhaps brings to mind a luxury yacht rather than a private residence. But this is just part of the inspirational nature of the concept.
While the project features a variety of finishing materials, the one that stands out in particular is marble, a material that has always been synonymous with luxury. In this case, however, the choice fell on a contemporary, hi-tech version of this material, namely large-size panels (100×300 cm in a thickness of 5.5 mm) from Panaria Ceramica’s ZERO.3 Trilogy collection. Based on three different technologies (porcelain stoneware, thin laminate stoneware and monoporosa wall tile), the collection recreates the aesthetics of marble and natural stone with stunning realism while delivering superior technical performance. The warm tones of the Onyx Light Soft line take pride of place on the floors in the daytime area, the external patio and the loggias, while the classic veins of Calacatta White were chosen for the master bedroom, the bathroom and the walk-in closet. But it is above all on the bathroom floors and walls that this hi-tech marble really comes into its own, the splendid veins and glossy reflections standing as a time-honoured symbol of luxury and well-being.
