COEM IS ONE OF THE WINNERS AT ADI CERAMICS & BATHROOM DESIGN AWARD

The winners of the ADI Ceramics & Bathroom Design Award 2017 were announced on Tuesday 26 September 2017. This Award was launched in collaboration with #ADI (Association for the Industrial Design) and #Cersaie (International Exhibition of Ceramic Tiles and Bathroom Furnishings) to honour the most innovative products showcased by the Italian ceramic industry at the Exhibition.
Coem was awarded the prize in the “ceramic” category with the innovative “Shelf” Project by the designer Paolo Benevelli, with the following motivation: “a process innovation that transforms the ceramic tile into highly-functional shelves adaptable to the various products of the company.”
The award guarantees that the “Shelf” Project will be part of the pre-selection for the prestigious ADI Design Index 2018, which is published annually by ADI-Association for the Industrial Design.
The “Shelf” tile goes beyond its traditional function as a covering material and now becomes a “support surface” .
This new dual application adds to the appeal of this material which has always been used merely as a covering element.
Full-body porcelain stoneware is worked to obtain an L-shaped element.
The union of one or more elements allows creating endless combinations that widens the possibilities of uses: bookcases, shelves, displays and support surfaces for any setting.
In other words, “Shelf” is a modular system that can be used as a small architectural element to define new geometries with ceramic dimensions.
