Creative Book by Casalgrande Padana

Article published in: "Reference Books: a way of inspiring new projects using tiles"

The Creative Book is an editorial initiative promoted by Casalgrande Padana to emphasise its commitment to architecture, design, and technological research. The company supports and helps these fields develop through the cultural action of the Grand Prix, the international architecture competition established in 1990 and one of the main events in the ceramics design industry.

This accurately organised volume is a professional tool that provides plenty of hints and tips not only on the expressive possibilities and application potential of porcelain stoneware, its structural qualities, and aesthetic features, but also on the architectural elements that these applications enhance and embellish.

The projects presented in the volume demonstrate the fine results of the use of these materials. This volume is a review of the winning projects, which are presented according to the type of intervention: shopping and office centres; public and service buildings, industrial buildings; residential buildings; façade coverings and external flooring; and swimming pools. Each project is accompanied by images, drawings, the justification of the award, a description of the project with all the application specifications of the ceramic materials used, a technical data sheet, and a short biography of the designers. Through these examples, the Creative Book aims at encouraging new possibilities for research on the use of ceramic materials in architecture and experimentation in terms of aesthetics, composition, technology, and performance, providing designers with useful ideas for their work.
