3D Bloom Star from FAP selected for the ADI Design Index 2020

Bloom Star from FAP ceramiche has been selected by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory for publication in the ADI Design Index 2020.

ADI Design Index is the annual publication of the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (Industrial Design Association) and features outstanding design products selected by a panel of experts, designers, critics, historians and trade journalists.

This is a particularly important achievement because the products contained in the publication are shortlisted for the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award 2022, the most prestigious recognition for Italian design quality. Each year, ADI also nominates three of the most significant products featured in the Design Index to compete for the Innovation Award sponsored by the Italian President.

Bloom Star from FAP ceramiche stands out for its artisanal experimentation and creative approach to design based on the company’s longstanding and passionate research efforts.

Bloom Star is the largest white-body wall tile with a three-dimensional structure produced by FAP ceramiche. The unusual 80×160 cm size lends a sense of visual continuity to spaces and creates walls with surprising graphic effects and above all the smallest possible number of joints. Because it is made of white body ceramic, the Bloom Star 80×160 cm slab is lightweight, simple to cut and drill and, no less importantly, easy to handle. Drawing inspiration from artisanal processes, Bloom Star creates sophisticated yet intimate walls marked by the contrast between light and shade. The large size of the slab accentuates the appealing sense of illusion and chiaroscuro and light refraction effects.

The presence of Bloom Star in the ADI Design Index 2020 marks a valuable recognition for FAP ceramiche and confirms the company’s commitment to design research based on a combination of traditional ceramic heritage and contemporary design.
