Located on the southern shore of Lake Garda, Residence Punta Grò stands at the foot of the morainic hills, just 6 kilometres from two towns of great historical interest, Peschiera and Sirmione. It is an exceptional location with a beach that offers views of the castle of Sirmione, called Rocca Scaligera, one of the best preserved castles in Italy and a rare example of a lake fortification. From here, visitors enjoy convenient access to some of the major points of interest around Lake Garda, which along with the town and castle of Sirmione also include the thermal baths and the Grotto of Catullus, the ancient town of Castellaro Lagusello (a UNESCO heritage site), and Valeggio sul Mincio with its imposing medieval walls and characteristic old town centre.
Built in the early seventies, the residential complex is set in the greenery of 140,000 square metre grounds and consists of 20 residential buildings with spacious balconies, terraces and porches opening onto spacious gardens complete with lawns and shady trees. It is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday and is particularly suitable for families with children. It offers two swimming pools with Jacuzzis and a children’s pool, a tennis court and an artificially turfed five-a-side football pitch, bowling greens, volleyball and basketball courts, a well-equipped playground and table tennis tables.
The pool area in Punta Grò recently underwent remodelling work as part of a project by architect Luca Forghieri, who created an authentic ceramic landscape made up of walkways, relaxation zones, partitions and equipped islands. For the swimming pool area the architect opted for a material with very specific technical characteristics to ensure the safety of users (both adults and children), durability and ease of maintenance, as well as pleasant, modern aesthetics based on a splendid Pietra Dorata colour.
This project by Luca Forghieri took part in The Quinquennial Tile Award, Second Edition, organised by the Fincibec group (www.tileaward.org). This international architecture award is reserved for professionals who have made creative use of ceramic tiles from the Fincibec group’s brands Naxos, Monocibec and Century in inspiring projects in the field of architecture and design. Conceived and promoted in collaboration with the magazine Octagon, the competition honours five international designers who have carried through outstanding projects in various fields of construction, including residential, public, industrial and commercial.
