One year since the expansion of its main facility in Fiorano Modenese, last September Laminam opened a new production plant in Borgotaro (PR) deriving from a 35 million euro investment in technology. “Laminam has built a highly efficient, highly automated and entirely Italian-made production facility that will double production capacity and meet growing demand for porcelain panels in the domestic and international markets,” said Laminam’s CEO Alberto Selmi.
A floor space of more than 44,000 m2 now houses the production lines devoted entirely to large 1620×3240 mm size ceramic panels in thicknesses ranging up to 12 mm, designed in particular for use on horizontal surfaces such as tables and bathroom and kitchen countertops, as well as indoor and outdoor applications.
The heart of the production system is the latest-generation Lamgea press system in which the powders are distributed directly on the belt without the need for dedicated carriages. This eliminates all stresses from the panels, which are able to expand without constraints and are consequently free of defects even in the new extra-large sizes. At the same time energy consumption is reduced by 70% compared to conventional pressing systems.
